The Brief

Tired, dated, heavily used

The public amenities located beneath the Nambucca Heads Surf Club at Main Beach had become tired, dated and heavily worn after years of constant public use. The facility featured ageing finishes, graffiti, deteriorated timber doors and hardware, exposed plumbing services, dark internal spaces and surfaces that had become difficult to clean and maintain.

The Scope

Back to bare shell, rebuilt to last

The refurbishment involved stripping the amenities back to a near bare-shell condition by removing the existing doors, door jambs, architraves, associated hardware, basins and selected plumbing fixtures. New door jambs, doors and hardware were supplied and installed throughout. Existing brick partition walls between the toilets, urinals and showers were prepared and tiled to create a durable, low-maintenance finish. New basins and plumbing fixtures were installed, while custom flashings were fabricated and installed to protect exposed plumbing pipework from future corrosion. The existing concrete floors were mechanically prepared before receiving a commercial epoxy flooring system. Ceiling surfaces were repaired and repainted, while the existing brickwork walls were rendered and painted to provide a clean, modern finish throughout the amenities.

The completed refurbishment transformed one of Nambucca Heads Main Beach's most frequently used public amenities into a bright, modern and inviting public facility. The upgraded finishes significantly improved the presentation, functionality and durability of the building while replacing ageing infrastructure with high-quality products. The combination of commercial epoxy flooring, tiled wall finishes, new doors and hardware, rendered walls and fresh paint has delivered a long-lasting, low-maintenance facility that complements one of the Coffs Coast's most popular beachside destinations.
